  • Does not affect natural movement
  • Contains a robust, mould-able metal splint within the fabric
  • The splint is pre-shaped but the angle can be modified by the vet if required. The splint must be shaped by the vet first on the healthy leg (front or rear) to ensure the correct angle for the affected leg.

Recommendations for use:
  • During the period of restraint, it is advisable not to leave the dog alone for too long, because it might try to remove the brace, by biting or scratching it.
  • The brace is designed for indoor use. To prevent damage to the brace when used outside, the dog needs to be fitted with a protective shoe or sock.
  • When used on the front leg, we recommend also using a carpal support, because it's use on the healthy leg will help the dog compensate better for the added load caused by the loss of use of the other leg. If the Balto Lower Leg brace is used on a hind leg, we recommend using a carpal support on both front legs.
  • Once the brace has been placed around the dog’s leg, it is not necessary that the two white-trimmed edges meet, as stabilisation is provided by the splint on the back of the brace.

Sizes:

Please measure the circumference around the largest part of your dog's carpal joint (A), the height (B) is a secondary measurement that will give you an indication of how the support will sit on the leg.

The circumference measurement of the brace is highly adjustable, the measurement given below is the maximum diameter around the leg which the brace will fit.

XXS 2.5" / 6.35cm 2" / 5cm
XS 4.5" / 11.4cm 3" / 7.6cm
