This Full Leg Dog Splint is designed to keep your dog’s front or rear leg completely straight, rigid and totally immobilised. This Full Leg Splint can be used for pre/post-operative support, fractures and more serious injuries to the lower leg when immobilisation is required. The Full Leg Splint is positioned at the back of your dog's front or rear leg and is adjusted with padded Velcro straps secured over the front of the leg.

  • Hi, we have a front amputee husky who weighs just over 30kg. He has arthritis and ligament damage and were recommended to look into a brace. Would this product be strong enough to support him and how would we allow for his swollen joint which is quite a lot wider than the rest of his leg. Any help would be appreciated!

    This splint could work for your husky. The most important measurement is the paw width (Measurement C on the size guide). If that doesn't fit, then the splint won't fit. Swelling can make the fit difficult, as this is a standardised splint. If you need more flexibility you can try the Walkin Full Adjustable Dog Splint. Sometimes with Walkin splints, it's 'try it and see' as they're not customised. These are made of rigid plastic so should support your dog's weight (paw size indicates weight and breed of dog). We stock customised Scandi Orthopedic Grade 3 rigid splints if necessary. A quad wheelchair might also help your Husky in this scenario.

  • Is this suitable to use for broken toes? And if so which size for a dachshund?

    This is a full leg splint. It is best to look at a short splint which has a cup for the toes. This is therefore not as heavy as a full leg splint (which is not nessary).

Walkin’ Full Dog Leg Splint

Interior padding in the splint keeps the leg secure and comfortable. Non-slip pads on the bottom of the splint add stability. The front leg splint extends above the carpal joint and completely under the paw, giving full support to the bottom of the dog's leg. The back leg splint extends down the metatarsal joint and under the back paw, giving full support to the lower rear leg.

At first, it may take a few days for your dog or pet to get use to the feeling of walking around with a dog splint, but with the state of the art design, they will feel comfortable with movement and mobility in no time. Encourage them to walk in it using treats. A sock can be used around the paw before applying the splint to make it more padded and comfortable.

I usually get the large size but none in stock so got the XL, slightly longer than needed but we can amend easily. Dog copes very well with these splints.
