The Scandi Orthopedic’s Grade 2.5 Splint is a semi-rigid carpal support. This is an excellent support if your dog has suffered a medium-level tendon or carpal ligament injury, suffers from carpal hyperextension, has a sprain or injury being conservatively managed or has moderate osteoarthritis (arthritis). This splint has thermoplastic stabilisers inside. This thermoplastic is special as you can shape it to fit your dog's carpal perfectly. This means your dog will get the best level of carpal support and heal faster. Follow the instructions inside the packet, put in hot water and shape. This is easy to do and you can do this at home yourself or with a professional. This thermoplastic is also removable so you can use this splint as a neoprene wrap.

Scandi Orthopaedic Dog Carpal Wrap - Grade 2.5

Scandi Orthopedic deliver effective complementary treatment options when surgery is not possible, or as an extra insurance for a successful post-operative rehabilitation. Four grades of support are provided across all their orthoses as summarised in the diagram.

Three grades of carpal combine neoprene and Velcro to provide highly customisable supports which may be hand washed at 30C.

All wraps and splints may be hand-washed using mild detergent at 30C. The thermoplastic insert used in Grades 2.5 and 3 should be washed in cold water only.

Great once you get used to it

My vet confirmed the stitched fabric gave adequate support, which at first I was concerned about, now that a new design does not include a thermoplastic plate.
It was tricky to fit at first (lots of velcro) but now I find it easy.
My dog is happy using it and it does the trick.

Ideal for 3 legged dog that needs front leg support

My Border Collie has one front leg he overuses while ducking and diving when playing. This support gives the knuckle the support he needs while allowing him the freedom to carry on playing. Needed the help of his physiotherapist to fit the moulded sides to his paw, but once that bit was done, It's been reasonably easy to fit the support onto his leg on a daily basis. Could have done with the medium size wrap being about a centimetre wider to make fitting easier. It just about goes round his leg but a large would have been much too wide. It does the job of supporting a weak joint paw as needed.
