The Scandi Orthopedic’s Grade 2.5 Splint is a semi-rigid carpal support. This is an excellent support if your dog has suffered a medium-level tendon or carpal ligament injury, suffers from carpal hyperextension, has a sprain or injury being conservatively managed or has moderate osteoarthritis (arthritis). This splint has thermoplastic stabilisers inside. This thermoplastic is special as you can shape it to fit your dog's carpal perfectly. This means your dog will get the best level of carpal support and heal faster. Follow the instructions inside the packet, put in hot water and shape. This is easy to do and you can do this at home yourself or with a professional. This thermoplastic is also removable so you can use this splint as a neoprene wrap.

The orange thermoplastic material is heated and molded to fit your dog's leg.

  • Do I leave my dogs Scandi carpal splint 2.5 on all day & night. ?

    For a Scandi Orthopedic Carpal Grade 2.5, you generally should leave it on your dog unless your vet, rehab therapist has advises this.


    Typical orthotic use is often:

    - Worn during activity and weight-bearing periods

    - Removed for skin checks

    - Removed periodically for controlled exercises/physiotherapy if prescribed

    - Sometimes worn overnight in the early stages of injury recovery, depending on the condition


    The biggest concern with continuous wear is:

    -Rubbing/pressure sores

    -Trapped moisture

    -Swelling

    - Muscle weakening and stiffness over time if never removed

Scandi Orthopaedic Dog Carpal Wrap - Grade 2.5

Scandi Orthopedic deliver effective complementary treatment options when surgery is not possible, or as an extra insurance for a successful post-operative rehabilitation. Four grades of support are provided across all their orthoses as summarised in the diagram.

Three grades of carpal combine neoprene and Velcro to provide highly customisable supports which may be hand washed at 30C.

All wraps and splints may be hand-washed using mild detergent at 30C. The thermoplastic insert used in Grades 2.5 and 3 should be washed in cold water only.

Impossible to fit

The support was delivered to be assembled by your self, I guess it is good to get a tailored fit, but impossible for me to do by myself so I had to return it. In addition it was way too large, even if I had sent the dog’s measurements. Would not recommend anyone to buy from this place, as you also have to arrange and pay for the return yourself

Great Product .. but

I ordered and received the Zoomadog splint for my four year old spaniel. I watched the YouTube video as to how to use. The film showed the splint being constructed and placed on the leg of a metal dogs leg (not moving or wriggling unhelpful and unwilling live specimen). I could not do this and asked my vet for assistance; and they can’t either. What am I supposed to do with a £100+ splint now??

Great once you get used to it

My vet confirmed the stitched fabric gave adequate support, which at first I was concerned about, now that a new design does not include a thermoplastic plate.
It was tricky to fit at first (lots of velcro) but now I find it easy.
My dog is happy using it and it does the trick.
