What Injuries can the Full Front Leg Splint Help:
A full leg splint for dogs covering from the paw up past the carpal, is used to stabilise the entire front leg and support more serious or higher-up injuries than a short splint. It can help with the following medical conditions and injuries:
- Stable or healing fractures of the radius, ulna, tibia, or fibula (vet-approved use)
- Post-traumatic injuries following accidents or falls
- Post-surgical immobilisation after fracture repair or corrective surgery
- Severe ligament sprains or partial tears
- Carpal hyperextension (when support above the joint is needed)
- Tendon injuries requiring extended immobilisation
- Paw knuckling caused by neurological injury or weakness
- Nerve damage affecting limb positioning or strength
- Reduced proprioception (poor awareness of paw placement)
- Advanced arthritis requiring joint stabilisation
- Age-related weakness affecting the entire limb
- Protection of surgical sites or wounds
How to Measure your Dog:
You need to measure two points: the carpal joint and your dog's paw width.
For the carpal: Measure once above the carpal, this will give you a measurement.
Sizing is as below:
Small: 9.5 - 11.9cm
Medium: 12 - 17.4cm
Large: 17.5+ cm
For the paw width: Measure your dog's paw width. Get your dog to stand on a tape measure, weight bearing. Brush away any hair, and measure the widest point
