Bracken, the Jack Russel dog, had a Ruptured Cruciate Knee Ligament
Bracken has suffered with arthritis for some time now, we know this is due to her age and her joints deteriorating, we manage this with supplements and she does take pain relief.
Unfortunately just before Christmas, Bracken jumped down off a bed and instantly collapsed, she was not able to weight bare and you could see she was uncomfortable.
We took her to the vets where she had multiple X Rays, we were told Bracken had fractured her cruciate ligament in her rear left leg. The vet suggested surgery but we knew this was not an option, with Bracken being almost 16 years old and with the amount of time it would take to recover we were not willing to put her through that.
We were disappointed the vets never mentioned trying a brace, we took it upon ourselves to find a knee brace that would make Bracken more comfortable, that is when we came across Zoomadog and purchased the Balto Knee Brace. To our surprise it fitted perfectly and she really did take to it immediately, she started to put weight back on her leg and is happy wearing it for most of the day. The brace has definitely had a positive impact on Bracken's quality of life, we are so glad we researched an alternative avenue!
