Maximus PawsUp are the best dog boots / toe up device on the market to stop paw knuckling. Paw knuckling is when the paw curls and your dog does not walk on the pad. PawsUp correct how your dog walks, meaning your dog's paw will walk flat again.

PawsUp assists all levels of paw knuckling - light, moderate and aggressive. This includes a limp, unsteady gait or wobbly walk. The cuff attaches above the hock joint, stabilsing the paw, increasing flexion and encouraging proper paw alignment. The boot protects the skin and nails. If your dog has a progressive neurological condition such as Degenerative Myelopathy, check out Maximus Skates.

  • Excellent for all levels of paw knuckling
  • Your dog will walk on their paw pad again
  • Can be worn for an extended period of time
  • Machine washable

PawUp do not over exhaust muscles or over stimulate in any way. As a result, your dog can wear for an extended period of time. Many of our customers wear all day long (indoors and outdoors) because the device is a necessity. Follow the same rules as regular boots – remove during inactive times to allow paw pads to breathe and remove when wet to avoid yeast growth in paw pads.

If your order is 'custom' as your dog is an unusual breed or size, we will kindly ask you to pay £30 for shipping from USA.

FYI - Next Day Delivery is not available. Maximus check all orders before we ship, so you get the right size for your dog.

  • i have a 12 year old yellow lab named Charlie who just 2 weeks ago first showed signs of limping in his rear legs and just as recent as this week has started to show signs of knuckling on both rear legs and its only been getting worse. Charlie is still very aware and alert but has been less energetic since the knuckling began. What brace would you suggest for a 12 year old, 90 pound yellow lab with severe knuckling on both rear legs?

Sorry to hear about Charlie, this sounds like it has started and progressed quickly. Would you be able to send us a video of him walking so I can see how severe his knuckling is? It sounds like he needs either PawsUp brace, or if very severe it would be best he goes in a wheelchair and uses PawsUp. Email us a video, and we can recommend what is best for Charlie. Our email is: woof@zoomadog.co.uk

  • Hi, I have a 5 year old miniature dachshund who had surgery for IVDD 3 months ago. She can walk but is knuckling. I have read the reviews and seen the photographs but do these boots go small enough to fit her little paws?

You would need to measure her paws, on the very last picture there is a measurement guide to help you work out her size.

  • Do your sell a front paw up brace for knuckling?

Yes, the front Maximus knuckling brace is here: https://zoomadog.co.uk/products/maximus-custom-brace-front-legs

If you want a long lasting solution to your dogs front paw knuckling, this is the best brace. The brace will protect, de-knuckle and get your dog to put their paw flat on the floor again meaning they reduce nail shortening and skin damage.

  • Would these be suitable for a dog 10 weeks post op IVDD surgery. She is walking and not knuckling but feet are slightly kicking out at the back and she is scuffing her nails.

It sounds like these boots could help your dog post-surgery. However, once ordered, you'll be asked for information about your dog and their condition, and a gait video. These are sent to Maximus. Every order is then assessed by Maximus for suitability, and to confirm sizing.

  • What is the difference between a toe device or a boot like Maximus for my dogs curling?

A toe device is best for short-term use, around 5 minutes. This is because the string often rubs inbetween the toes and is painful. If you want a long-term solution, which you dog can wear all day and for many months to come, a boot is best as it will not rub inbetween the toes. A boot can be worn all day and help your dog.

  • Can my dog wear these boots all day?

Yes. Maximus PawsUp can be worn for extended periods of time, indoors and outdoors. They don't overstimulate or irritate the paw pads like other anti-knuckling devices. Be sure to air your dog's paws regularly and take boots off if your dog's sleeping, resting, or being left unnattended.

Tai's new boots

Really impressed with the customer service, the guys were amazing. The boots themselves seem really snug and we have found them a little fiddly to put on but we have only had them a couple of days. Having said that they instantly stopped the knuckling. Just a case of Tai getting used to them, he isn't very keen.

Fantastic boots

These boots have given my 13 year old Labrador a new lease of life, he had worn away his toenails due to knuckling. He can now walk with ease and more stability and he also looks more confident too. Happy boy and a happy owner 😊

These are excellent. Our elderly dog had been dragging his hind legs, knuckling and hurting his paws. We’d tried him in other boots before but they always seemed to slip off.

We’ve only been using these for a week, and while he’s still getting used to wearing them they have really helped reduce the dragging, prevent the knuckling and protect his paws so they can heal. Really superb product, quality is excellent and the fit and additional support from the “suspenders” both helps with his paw positioning and prevents them falling off! Wish we’d got them earlier.

Toe-up Booties

I brought these boots for my dog who has started to drag his paws due to being 11 years old and having hip dysplasia. This company is amazing, they wanted videos of measurements and how my boy walks so making sure he gets the perfect size booties. They changed my order from watching my video evidence and gave me an explanation as to why they changed my order and I’m so pleased they did as the booties are perfect for him. My boy is comfortable wearing them. They are helping him pick up his feet when he walks which is what they are meant for. This company ‘Zoomadog’ are hands down amazing. The company kept me posted on everything from communication down to receiving the order promptly…. I am very impressed and will look to use this company again in the future. Thank you so much - you are all are legends!
