  • My dog will do anything to remove any type of band around his front left leg by ripping, pulling, anything to get it off.

    This is tricky! It sounds like a small light bag over the top or bandage might work well to secure it in place so he can't bit it.

  • Hi there - My dog was hit by a car four weeks ago and suffered nerve damage with paralysis in the left front leg. I am now in recovery training with her, and seeing slow progress. However, I also want to set her up with the right long-term aids. Specifically support to ensure no further damage when she run around like the wonderful maniac she is. I have been looking at the Balto shoulder and elbow braces and on the Maximus Paws Up to help with her knuckling. I was also considering a support harness to help her recover her strength (she has just started on a water treadmill, but I would like equipment to help her at home as well). Is there any advice you can give me on aids? Marie

    Hi Marie, we're sorry to hear that your dog was injured in a RTA but it sounds like she's recovering well and you're giving her wonderful support. Please can you send us a video of her walking which we will forward on to Maximus for their feedback, although they have helped dogs in similar positions, and we can then advise more specifically on the best products to help. Re the support harnesses, we recommend the Help Em Up Harness and get the additional straps so you can support her. Poor customer service

Really not the review I wanted to write, but after repeated attempts to get a response from the supplier (Maximus) about my concerns with the sizing of the boot with no response, I feel it is important to alert potential future customers about this. Especially as Zoomdog (who whilst quick and polite in their responses to me) also failed to get a response. Maximus were from the start inconsistent in communication, not replying then issuing apologies and excuses. I raised even before the product was made my questions and concerns about the sizing, but this was not acknowledged. It is inexcusable that they ignored the attempts of a customer to communicate.

In summary, the product is well made but does not fit properly and often comes off half way on a walk. This is really awkward especially as I am sometimes holding a baby too, so reaching down to untie all the fittings is challenging and then reattaching during a walk is too tricky. The concept of the product is good but better customer service is needed for it to actually work effectively, especially given the high price point. Really disappointed :-(
