Review: "Just received Charlie's Splish Splash boots in yellow. They are great quality. The Velcro strap is an upgraded design which I love and as I live in UK, it's fantastic they are rainproof." [Paul, UK]  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Questions & Answers

Have a Question?

Ask a Question
  • Are the Splish Splash boots waterproof?

The Splish Splash boots are not completely waterproof. For example, if your greyhound walks in grass with heavy dew they will get wet inside. They are quite high, so if your sighthound is on tarmac which is wet, the the boots will not get wet inside.

  • I don't know if I should by Splish Splash or the regular Hunnyboots. Can you tell me what the difference is?

If your sighthound has not worn boots before, we recommend starting with the original Hunnyboots as they are lighter and your dog will adapt to them quickly and easily. These boots are excellent every day wear and use, in towns or out and about. If you would like to try a warmer boot, than the Splish Splash are perfect for colder wetter weather.

How to Measure Splish Splash

How to Measure Splish Splash

Remember front and back paws can be different boot sizes! Measure both if you’re getting boots for each.

To Measure for Hunnyboots:

  • Take a ruler or tape measure, and while your hound is lying down, and their paws are extended and flat.
  • Press down on the knuckles and hold the foot flat against the ruler.
  • Measure from the tip of the longest nail, to the back of the pad.
  • Once you have measurements front and back, you’re ready to choose your size.

Contact us if you need help because your hound has long nails, higher than normal knuckles, or abnormal paws because of amputation, surgery, or an incident. We can advise the best fit.

Check Knuckle Type

Check Knuckle Type

If your dog’s on the edge of two sizes, knuckle type may help to find the best size boot.

If the foot shape is ‘flat’ or ‘normal’, go up to the next size if on or over the size limit

Examples:
If 7.8cm, choose MEDIUM
If 8.2cm, choose LARGE

If the foot shape is ‘high’, err on the smaller size range

Examples:
If 7.8cm, choose MEDIUM
If 8.2cm, still choose MEDIUM

Not quite the same

I’m have had many pairs of these for my hound over the years and have noticed a change in design (I realise they are taller supposedly for better fit) The Velcro tape is narrower and as it stands I can’t get them to fit quite the same as a new pair did previously
We’ll see how they fair ( also the lovely lovely waterproof holdall bag is no longer supplied?)

Sturdy and shower proof

My greyhound, Jack, has only worn these twice so far but on both occasions it had just finished raining heavily. Even though he walked in long wet grass and through the odd puddle, his socks remained dry. As with the first few walks with his normal Hunnyboots, I have removed the insoles to make it easier to put them on. As the boots become more supple and moulded to his paws I can then insert the insoles. The Splish Splash boots are far more sturdy than the normal Hunnyboots and the main usage will be in Autumn and Winter but so far so good.

Good quality boots

The splish splash boots are well made and feel as though they will last. However the velcro strap fits over our hounds dew claws. I had hoped the boots would go slightly further up his leg so the strap would fit above his dew claws. However he will wear them and we can now walk on gravel paths!

Good style

Would prefer the Fixed Velcro on the boot to be 1/2” longer so the Strap when tightening fastens easier.

Super Splish Splash

My lovely hound Bryn has a particularly nasty foot condition (SLO) & we needed some footwear to keep those paws clean & dry outdoors. Hence the Hunnyboots. I phoned Zoomadog for advice on which product to go for and the Splish Splash seemed to be exactly it. The fact that these are fleece lined is important as sometimes Bryn has very sore toes and these boots are soft and cushiony for him. There's good advice on line for measuring your hound's feet so I was able to order with confidence. Because they're sold in pairs (& not a pack of 4 like a lot of cheaper options) I was able to get one set of L and one of XL, to ensure the best fit all round. The boots were delivered quickly and appear sturdy. Although they are not the cheapest on the market, they seem like good value to me. The fit is just right. The instructions for putting them on properly are extremely helpful. I am very happy that I've made the right purchasing choice & would order from Zoomadog again because of their excellent customer service. Thank you.
