My Dog Has Bad Arthritis
Would a Dog Wheelchair Help?
Yes. A four wheel dog wheelchair is called a quad wheelchair.
These can be very helpful for dogs with front weakness, weakness in all their joints, or perhaps recovering from surgery.
Your dog must have power in their body to move this four wheel wheelchair along. Unfortunately, a quad can’t can’t work magic if there’s no power at all - there has to be some, in either the front or back legs.
These wheelchairs are best on hard surfaces like tarmac, or in the summer on very hard dry grass areas. Four wheels can be very tricky in mud or bumpy terrain - your dog will likely find themselves unable to push the wheelchair forward.
They don’t usually fit indoors as the quad frame is too wide to fit through doors.
