Review: "The Version 4 Hunnyboots are top notch!! They truly are the perfect custom boots. My greyhound doesn't limp at all from her corn when she wears her boot, and the fit is so comfortable she actually likes wearing it - unlike other boots we have tried lol." [David, UK] ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Ask a Question
  • Hey, looking at getting these for our whippet to stop the annual vet visits (and surgeries) during grass seed season. His front paws measure exactly 70mm if the paw is gently pressed flat (measured according to the guide). If I don’t press it down at all then he measures around 68mm and if I press it down slightly more firmly it stretches to 72mm. Width wise he is 42mm with the paw in the air and it widens to 45mm + when pressed down. He’s a standard whippet, 16.8kg but rather ‘beefy’ and muscular so don’t let his weight fool you. He measures approx 20.5 inches tall. I’m thinking the Medium but as he’s very much on the smaller end of this not sure if Small would be a better fit?

Thank you for your message. Based on all of the information you have provided, I would recommend the medium size. The small truly are very very small and really only suitable for very slight whippets. Adding socks could also be helpful.

  • My grey is measuring 110m would the XL still Fit?

The XL fits paws that measure 9cm (90mm) to 10cm (100mm).

  • Hi, will these be any good for a French bulldog?

Hunnyboots are specifically designed to fit the long, slim 'rabbit paw' shape of sighthounds. Unfortunately this make them unsuitable for French Bulldogs' chunkier, shorter paws.

  • My dog is 89 mm, should I buy Large or XL , Thanks

89mm is a Large according to the Hunnyboots size guide. Sometimes owners order both sizes to see which fits best and return the pair that's the least good fit. Items can be returned within 14 days of you having received them, as long as they're as new (i.e. not used outside, no dog hair - remove with sellotape or lint roller - all tags and packaging intact, and no damage). The original shipping cost isn't refunded.

  • How do I clean my dog's Hunnyboots?

Hunnyboots aren't waterproof nor designed to be constantly wet. If they get wet or dirty, HAND wash them with mild washing detergent suitable for wool, in warm water. If wet with hard or corrosive salt water, rinse out boots. Brush any dirt from the zips with an old toothbrush. Pat dry to remove excess water. With zips undone, put boots in a warm, airy place (sunlight in summer, next to a heater in winter) until they are dry.

  • What would be the best option for my lurcher? I would like to find something protective for stones and uneven surfaces.

Lurchers do well in Hunnyboots as they are specifically designed for sighthound paws - long and narrow - so fit very well. They offer extra protection and grip allowing your dog to walk comfortably.

  • There are 2 L’s on my Hunnyboots. Have I been sent 2 left boots?

L means 'Large' not 'Left', so you can use either boot on either of the paws front and back.

  • Are the Hunnyboots waterproof?

Neither Hunnyboots V4 nor Hunnyboots Splish Splash boots are waterproof. Hunnyboots V4 are made from the same fabric as human trainers, so hang them up overnight and they will dry. For Splish Splash, many people find they are moderately waterproof but in heavy dew or rain, they will get wet inside. Some people have found good result by using a waterproofing spray on the Splish Splash e.g. Nikwax Waterproofing Spray.

Common Questions & Answers about Hunnyboots

How do I measure my greyhound’s feet?
Get your dog to stand on a piece of paper and measure from the longest nail to the back of the metatarsal pad (the furthest pad back). Look at the measurement chart to find your size.

I don’t know what size my greyhound is?
If you're unsure after measuring, don't guess - email us and ask, we're here to help every greyhound to get the best fitting boots possible.

Why should I add socks?
Socks are great if your dog has a little too much room in their boot. It can help with sweat, the socks will smell rather than the Hunnyboots. You can simply wash the socks rather than the boots. There are three different heights of socks: knee, crew and ankle.

Do I need different sizes for front and back paws?
Yes, you need to measure both front and back as many dogs have two different sizes on front and back.

My greyhound has lost a toe. Is this a problem with Hunnyboots?
No, we recommend you measure as if the toe was there. Add a little bit of cotton wool inside the Hunnyboot where the toe is missing to make the boot a comfortable fit for your dog.

Does my dog wear two boots if it only has one poor paw?
Yes, we recommend your dog wears a set of boots, when your dog wears one boot it will make the dog higher so it’s important to wear two.

What is a toe cap used for?
Toe caps are designed to fit all sizes of Hunnyboots, the toe cap is made specifically for greyhounds who have had the Flexor Tenotomy procedure. Fondly called 'flat footers', these greyhound toes are flat post-surgery, even elevated, creating spear-like toenails capable of prematurely wearing out or even piercing most fabrics. They are also susceptible to snagging these wayward toes during play and general zooming activity.

How to Measure V4 Hunnyboots

How to Measure V4 Hunnyboots

Please note that sizings for V4 Hunnyboots and Splish Splash are different. Double check the size guide, even if you already have Splish Splash, but are buying a pair of V4s for the first time.

Remember that front and back paws can be different sizes! Measure both if you’re getting boots for front and back.

Contact us if you need help because your hound has long nails, higher than normal knuckles, or abnormal paws because of amputation, surgery, or an incident. We can advise the best fit.

To measure for V4 Hunnyboots: the easiest method is to take a ruler or tape measure, and while your hound is lying down, and their paws are extended and flat. Press down on the knuckles and hold the foot flat against the ruler. Measure from the tip of the longest nail, to the back of the pad. Sassy Boots!

Ive submitted this again as I mean to give 4 stars and for some reason my original submissions only came up with 2 . Star rating choice not very clear.
The Boots are beautifully made and look fabulous.
I'm not sure if they are rubbing slightly on her outer knuckle . They are definitely the right size for her paw measurements so we'll have to see how it goes. She certainly strides out in them with no lameness at all.
Really hoping they help get rid of the corn.

Helped with my greyhound's limp.

It was initially a bit of a struggle to get them on without them falling off in a couple of steps but perseverance paid off. They work really well and Jack is enjoying limp-free walks again. The reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that they are not in any way water resistant. As the grass gets dewy later in the year the boots have become seriously wet and require drying before his afternoon walk.

Happy Greyhound

We.ve been trying to get our boys corn out for a while, he’s not been enjoying walks too much he’s ok on grass but limps on hard ground especially where there is gravel. Yesterday the hunnyboots arrived we tried them in the house so he could get used to them and on our walk this morning he was like a different dog trotting along and almost smiling!!
